TOLC ENTRY TESTS FOR NON-EU BACHELOR'S APPLICANTS
Please read on if you are a non-EU applicant requiring a visa who is interested in applying for admission to one of the Ca’ Foscari bachelor’s degrees that uses a TOLC test as part of the selection process.
TOLC tests are entry tests offered by the Italian test provider CISIA. They can be taken either in English or in Italian, and are offered both online and on campus by all of the Italian universities that make use of them as part of their undergraduate admission procedures.
The following Ca’ Foscari bachelor’s programmes require you to take the TOLC-E, which is designed for undergraduate economics and management programmes:
- Business Administration [ENG]
- Economics and Business [ENG]
- Economia e commercio [ITA]
- Economia aziendale [ITA]
- Hospitality Innovation and e-Tourism [ENG]
- Digital Management [ENG]
- Commercio estero e turismo [ITA]
Our bachelor’s degree in Computer Science [ENG] makes use of the TOLC-I, which is designed for undergraduate engineering and technology programmes.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A PROGRAMME REQUIRING A TOLC TEST
In order to submit an application for any of the courses indicated above, you will need to have ALREADY taken the relevant TOLC test, because you will be required to upload your test’s identification code in your application.
Since it is not possible to submit an application for the above-listed programmes without a TOLC result, it is important to register to take the test in time in order to be able to respect the submission deadline of the admission round in which you apply based on your nationality. (The admission rounds available to you depend on your nationality. To check which admission rounds work for applicants with your citizenship, return to the homepage of this platform, insert your citizenship in the upper right-hand corner, and consult the relevant news item that appears.)
HOW TO TAKE A TOLC TEST
In order to take the TOLC-E or the TOLC-I, you need to register on the CISIA platform and pay the 30 euro fee.
The CISIA website has a page dedicated to the test dates of all of the TOLC tests it offers. These dates are regularly updated, so be sure to check the site often if you do not see availability. Please note that the dates for 2025 will begin to appear in late November.
At the moment, it is not possible to take a TOLC test in December or January, so if you wish to apply during our first admission round for 2025/2026, you will need to have taken the relevant test by the end of November. If you do not find availability in November, check back on the site to take a test in February and plan to submit your application in our second admission round.
TOLC TIPS
- Be sure to read the regulations the govern all aspects of the TOLC tests.

- It is possible to take a TOLC test up to once a month.
- To be considered for admission in 2025/2026, Ca’ Foscari will accept TOLC tests taken at any point in 2024 or 2025.
- If you are taking the TOLC online, it is important to have checked that you meet the technical requirements.
If you have any questions about how the TOLC tests work, consult the CISIA web page dedicated to the English TOLC tests or write to prospective.students@unive.it.
