Happy reading and best of luck with your application!
BEFORE STARTING YOUR APPLICATION
- Read all the official information regarding the Preliminary evaluation of international qualifications and the Entry requirements for applicants with an international qualification.
- Read the relevant programme profile on the application platform for each degree programme in which you are interested. Apart from a general description, the profile also tells you about the programme’s language of instruction, its entry requirements and language requirements and whether it has an entry test.
To consult the complete list of our degree programmes, use the Search button on this platform’s homepage. - It is important to mind the deadlines of the admission rounds! There are different admission rounds during which you can apply depending on two major factors: first, your nationality; and second, if you are a non-EU citizen already living in Italy and in possession of an Italian permit of stay that allows you to enrol in an Italian university. To see the admission rounds that work for you, navigate to this platform’s landing page, insert your citizenship in the upper right-hand corner, and consult the relevant news item that appears.
NB: If you are a non-EU citizen already residing in Italy and in possession of a residence permit that allows university enrolment in the 2025/26 academic year, keep in mind that you have access to the same admission rounds as EU applicants. Also, if you have multiple citizenships and one of them is Schengen Area, Bulgarian, Norwegian, Liechtensteiner, Icelandic or Sammarinese, you must apply for admission using this citizenship.
PREPARING YOUR APPLICATION
- You can only register on the platform once, and once you have registered, you can only submit one application in a single round for a given academic year. It is therefore not possible to apply for a programme in one admission round and then apply for admission to another in a different admission round.
- You can apply for up to two (2) different degree programmes with your application. These will be ranked in importance based on the order. The programme occupying the first spot is your first-priority programme. You will be evaluated for admission to this programme first. Only if you do not succeed in being accepted to your first-priority programme will the admissions team then begin the evaluatation process to determine if you can be admitted to your second-priority programme. It is therefore essential that you put the programme that interests you most in the FIRST spot on your application.
- The list of required documents is indicated in your online application, so please upload only the documents indicated as required. Any unrequired documentation will not be consulted and cannot influence the evaluation of your application.
- If your entry qualification documents are not in English or Italian, you must provide both verified copies of the original AS WELL AS English or Italian translations produced by an official translator. Ca’ Foscari only accepts OFFICIAL translations.
- If you are a MASTER’S DEGREE applicant and you are indicating two programmes of interest, you will need to upload TWO separate and distinct letters of motivation – one for each programme. Since the Teaching Committee reads these letters, it is in your best interest to ensure that each letter is as specific to the programme as possible; generic letters tend to be poorly received.
COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION
- The “Save” button allows you to make changes to your application as you work on it over time.
- While you should only submit your application once you have completed it and uploaded all of the documentation required, you can submit it if the only thing missing is your language certification. Just keep in mind that if you are accepted for admission, you will have to provide this certification in order to be able to enrol. In addition, some Italian visa-issuing institutions will not issue your visa if you do not already possess the language certification that Ca’ Foscari requires for you to enrol. Please check with the relevant Italian visa-issuing institution to see how they deal with this matter.
- You must only upload colour PDF copies of your original documents.
SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
- Your application will be IMMEDIATELY REJECTED if it does not include: (1) a valid ID document (passport for non-EU citizens; ID card or passport for EU citizens); (2) your mark sheet or transcript of records with its official English or Italian translation; and (3) FOR MASTER’S DEGREE applicants, both your CV and your letter(s) of motivation. Also obligatory at the time of submission: for applicants to our master’s degree in Environmental Humanities, your thematic entrance essay; for applicants to our master’s degree in Comparative International Relations, your certification of a B1-level knowledge of a second language among those accepted.
- In order to be able to submit your application in a specific admission round, you must pay the application fee the day before the admission round expires. So, if the admission round has a submission deadline of January 9, you need to have paid the application fee by MIDNIGHT (CET – Rome) on January 8.* You should only use the “Submit” button after you have completed all parts of the application, uploaded all of the required documents and paid the application fee.* The “Submit” button will only work AFTER you have paid the application fee*.
- If you experience difficulties while trying to pay your application fee, consult our tips on paying the application fee). After paying, you should NOT write an email to let us know! Everything occurs automatically and we can see that you have paid.
- The International Office’s Welcome Unit will only pre-evaluate submitted applications: applications with statuses such as “reopened”, “prepared”, “inactive”, “blank” or “blocked” cannot be evaluated.
AFTER SUBMISSION: THE EVALUATION OF YOUR APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES
- If we need to ask you for additional information or documentation during the pre-evaluation of your application, you will receive our feedback via email. Please be sure to check the email you used to register your application regularly and be sure to read eventual feedback carefully, respecting any deadlines provided.
- After you have submitted your application, be sure to check the email you provided during registration as regularly as possible. That’s where we will write to you in case we need more information or in order to inform you about the progress of your application. ALWAYS USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS YOU ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR APPLICATION IN ANY COMMUNICATION YOU HAVE WITH CA’ FOSCARI.
- The time you will need to wait for a response to your application depends on various factors, especially how many and which steps the evaluation process associated with your degree programme of interest requires. Generally speaking, bachelor’s degree applicants can expect to receive feedback on their admission to their first-priority programme (the programme ranked as first in the application if two programmes were indicated) within approximately 5 weeks of the end of the admission round in which they applied. In contrast, master’s degree applicants can expect to receive feedback on their admission to their first-priority programme (the programme ranked as first in the application if two programmes were indicated) within approximately 6 weeks of the end of the admission round in which they applied. These wait times are merely guidelines, however, and the evaluation process may take longer. We thank you for your patience if it ends up being required! (In order to know when your admission round closed, navigate to this platform’s landing page and INSERT YOUR CITIZENSHIP IN THE UPPER RIGHT-HAND CORNER in order to be able to see the relevant news item with the admission round dates.*)
- If you need to request a study visa, you should begin the pre-enrolment procedure on the Universitaly platform as soon as possible. WHEN REGISTERING ON THE UNIVERSITALY PLATFORM, ALWAYS USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS YOU ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR CA’ FOSCARI APPLICATION.
- If you need to ask any questions: we receive large numbers of emails, so to save time, be sure to take advantage of all of the online resources and information cited above and in other news items on the apply.unive.it homepage.
