Overview
This programme aims to prepare a new generation of Mediterranean specialists in intercultural communication and mediation who possess a thorough knowledge of Mediterranean issues and are capable of establishing networks involving both academic and non-academic actors, such as national and international political institutions, economic operators and journalists.
To achieve this goal, this master’s degree programme offers you an in-depth knowledge of the contemporary Mediterranean world and the interactions between the countries of which it is comprised. Through the central themes of migration, cooperation and development, the course provides an innovative perspective on the Mediterranean as a context of interaction between Africa, Asia and Europe, exploring it as a lens through which to interpret the globally significant political, social and cultural phenomena that characterise our modern world.
Applying an interdisciplinary approach that draws upon the fields of sociology, geography, history and law, the course equips you with theoretical and methodological skills connected to migration studies more generally and to the political, economic and cultural relations in the Mediterranean area more specifically. In addition, you will acquire skills in qualitative research and data analysis as well as reinforce your linguistic knowledge.
