Overview
This programme trains you as an expert in philology, ancient literatures, ancient history and archaeology. Depending on the curriculum you choose, you acquire specialised skills and methods in archaeology, ancient art and material culture history, languages and literatures of ancient Greek and Latin civilisations or ancient history (including Greek, Roman and ancient East history).
This programme offers two curricula, or study paths, from which to choose:
Your academic activities benefit from state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies (e.g., digital humanities), allowing you to access texts and archives online and to use specifically designed analytical software.
You can further explore your field of interest through excavation experiences, internships in epigraphy, digital humanities workshops and museum internships. Upon graduation, you will be able to assume a position of responsibility in institutions such as museums, local administration, archives, publishing houses, or obtain teaching qualifications for middle and secondary schools.
Double Degree available
Students can apply for the double degree with Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès (France) during the 3rd year of undergraduate or 1st year of postgraduate studies.
Programme structure
This programme includes the following components:
- course work
- curricular internship
- final thesis
You can apply to carry out one of the double degrees outlined above, which would involve spending one of the two years of study at a partner university. Alternatively, you can request to spend one or two semesters abroad through Ca’ Foscari’s exchange programmes.
Your curricular internship can be carried out either in Italy or abroad.
