Entry qualification

High school / secondary education (or higher) Students must have attended school for at least 12 years in order to be eligible to enrol in a bachelor’s degree offered by an Italian university. Language requirements

Italian ITALIAN A minimum B2-level knowledge of Italian is required for enrolment. Please make sure you upload one of the certifications we recognise as proof of your language level. You can apply to this programme even if you have yet to obtain a language certification, but in order to complete your enrolment you will need to provide one or take a preliminary Italian language test organised either on Skype or on campus before the academic year begins. You are exempted from needing to provide evidence of your proficiency in Italian if: • Italian is your mother tongue; or • you are an EU citizen (regardless of citizenship and residence). Chinese Marco Polo students can provide a language certification indicating either a B1- or a B2-level knowledge of Italian. Chinese Marco Polo students enrolling with a certified B1-level knowledge of Italian must achieve a certified B2-level knowledge of the language by the end of the first year of their studies.

Other requirements

Access to this programme is unrestricted. All international students (even those holding an Italian language certification and those who passed Ca’ Foscari’s Italian test) will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement, or ALR, in Italian (Obbligo Formativo Aggiuntivo – OFA) that must be satisfied by the end of your first year of study (deadline of September 30) by passing an exam. Passing the ALR exam may be necessary in order to take other exams included in your study plan.

Overview

Are you interested in learning more about Asia or the Near and Middle East? This programme allows you to choose any of the following languages as your focus: Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian or Turkish.

It teaches you writing and speaking skills in one or two languages as well as an advanced knowledge of English or French. It also introduces you to internationally recognised scholars, provides hands-on exercises with native speakers and offers the possibility of studying and/or carrying out an internship abroad.

The programme explores the cultural and religious heritage of your chosen region as well as its history, literature, economics, legal system and social dynamics. With the knowledge and skills you acquire, you can either continue your education with a master’s degree or apply for international and multicultural jobs both in Europe and beyond in a variety of fields, including translation, interpreting, publishing, tourism, journalism, linguistic instruction.

You are also equipped to work in social/educational services, welcome services for immigrants, the organisation and promotion of cultural and artistic events, the export of Italian goods and the import of Asian and Near or Middle Eastern products.

You can apply to carry out one of the double degrees outlined above, which would involve spending one of the three years of study at a partner university. Alternatively, you can request to spend one or two semesters abroad through Ca’ Foscari’s exchange programmes.

Your curricular internship can be carried out either in Italy or abroad.
