In order to determine if you satisfy these curricular requirements and possess the necessary personal preparation, the programme’s Teaching Committee will evaluate your undergraduate transcript of records and examine your CV. Since an advanced knowledge of English is essential for success in this master’s degree, we encourage you to upload any documentation that would demonstrate this to the Teaching Committee when they evaluate your suitability as a candidate (e.g., C1 or C2 certification, experience acquired abroad in English-speaking countries, etc.). The Teaching Committee reserves the right to schedule an oral examination if you satisfy this programme’s minimum curricular requirements in order to confirm your possession of an adequate personal preparation. If requested, this oral examination will evaluate your verbal comprehension and interpretative skills by having you read and discuss an English text related to the programme’s area of study. Overview
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
This Language Sciences programme offers you an advanced command of one of a range of foreign languages, including English, Albanian, Czech, English, French, German, Italian Sign Language (LIS, including tactile sign language), modern Greek, Polish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish and Swedish.
Depending on the study path you choose, you focus on a different area of study by applying an in depth comparative approach: themes and teaching tools for teaching Italian to foreigners and foreign languages to Italians; advanced research tools for the analysis of language disorders and linguistic acquisition in case of deafness and bilingualism; the formal analysis of language; new technologies for the study of languages and linguistics; and culture and literature in the different phases of their development and the historical diachronic evolution of your focal language.
The modules are taught in multiple languages, including your chosen language of specialisation and English. You can also strengthen your expertise in specific areas of language studies, such as the teaching of foreign languages and Italian as a foreign language, the psychology of development and learning applied to language, computer science and information processing systems in language processing, linguistic analysis of speech and deafness disorders, the most advanced linguistic theories and the study of competence and processing in typical and atypical situations (eye tracking).
DOUBLE/JOINT DEGREE OPPORTUNITIES
Students enrolled in this programme have the opportunity to apply to carry out an international double degree with one of our partner universities. There is also a joint degree in English and American Studies available.

You can apply to carry out one of the double/joint degrees outlined above, which would involve spending one of your two years of study at a partner university. Alternatively, you can request to spend one or two semesters abroad through Ca’ Foscari’s exchange programmes.
